Sables Programs
At the national level, SCIF Sables supports:
-
The nation’s most comprehensive Becoming an Outdoors Woman and More at the SCI Granite Ranch in Wyoming. Sables provides sponsorships to this six-day workshop for women that includes shooting sports, archery, fishing, camping, whitewater rafting, backpacking, journaling, and wilderness survival skills.
-
Expanding the reach and enriching educational opportunities at the SCI Foundation’s American Wilderness Leadership Schools®. This program introduces teachers and youth group leaders to the complexity of environmental and wildlife management issues, and the shooting sports (rifle, pistol, trap, muzzleloader, and bow) with an emphasis on firearm safety and use.
-
The establishment of college scholarships and endowments for junior and senior college students studying wildlife science. There are presently three Hunting Heritage Scholarships; the C.J. McElroy scholarship at West Virginia University, the Joe Leta scholarship at Unity College in Maine and the SCIF Sables Hunting Heritage Scholarship at Texas A & M University-Kingsville. The Elaine and Gus Vogeler scholarship is slated to be established in late 2007.
-
Safari in a Box, a K–12 educational kit designed to provide exciting, hands-on learning. It gives teachers and others who work with young people resources and ideas to introduce youth to important concepts of habitat, wildlife management, and impacts resulting from human and wildlife interactions.

Membership allows you to participate in the ultimate shopping experience, the SCI Marketplace at the Annual SCI Hunters’ Convention. Wildlife theme clothing, furniture, collectibles, sculptures, and paintings abound, as well as exotic foods. Outfitters from around the world offer outdoor adventures in places near and far. More than 1000 exhibitors create this wonderful shopping event which is open only to SCI members and SCIF Sables.
At the Convention the SCIF Sables host their renowned luncheon, show, and auction. Meet women from all over the world, make new friends, and enjoy a lively stage show. Both the silent and live auctions feature exquisite jewelry, artwork, trips and much, much more. You’ll take home valuable merchandise and happy memories.
Make time to visit the Sables convention booth to learn more about our programs and purchase Sables pride clothing and collectibles.
