Eric Jones, 2013
Eric Jones grew up on Guntersville Lake in the hills ofnorth Alabama. At the age of five, his uncle gave him his firstrifle, and his father, formerly a sergeant in the Marine Corps, taught him how to use it. He began hunting rabbitwith his grandfather, and squirrel, groundhogs and dove with his dentist. At nine he became the youngest black belt in Alabama, and at ten he played piano for hischurch. He began deer hunting at fourteen, and started taking flying lessons. He was a passenger in a car accident at sixteen that paralyzed him from the chest down.
After five months in a halo neckbrace, he graduated high school, and in 1995 graduated with Honors from the University of Alabama. He becameafinancial adviser with Edward Jones and has worked there for eighteen years. Eric is a three-time president of the Lake CityCivitans and a two-time president of Thursday's Child, a charity for handicapped children. He became a certified SCUBA diver in 2005, and has dived all over the Caribbean. Heenjoys fast cars,deer and duck hunting, and harvested a trophy elk in 2011.
