Youth Education Seminars (YES) Outdoors

Youth Education Seminars (YES) Outdoors is a joint effort of Safari Club International Foundation and Cabela's focusing on youth outdoor education.  Youth Education Seminars are targeted at reaching today's youth through a multitude of outdoor activities. These events will be presented at Cabela's store locations.  This will be an exciting way to promote your outdoor activities for the entire family.

Events planned for the YES Outdoor Program are:

  • Safari In A Box (predator and small game identification program - promoted by the SCIF Sables)

  • Sensory Safari (mounted large game animals for educational purposes – promoted by SCI Chapters)

  • First For Hunters Membership Booth – run by SCI Chapters

  • Cabela's in Store Marine and Game Biologist, Outfitting Today's Young Hunter – Cabela's staff

  • National Shooting Sports Foundation shooting ranges

  • IHEA promoting Hunter Education

  • Boy Scouts of America demonstrating outdoor living skills

  • The American Red Cross will be presenting First Aid information along with their ‘Family Disaster Planning/ First Aid’ Program.

Five of the YES Outdoor events are scheduled for Saturday only, and three events are scheduled for Saturday & Sunday. All are open and free to the public. They are designed to draw from 10,000 to 20,000 people into the Cabela’s stores. Cabela’s is committed to promoting the YES Outdoor programs in each of the store locations local area. The partnership formed with SCI Foundation will provide a great way for parents to introduce their children to outdoor activities. The scheduled events begin at store opening hours (check local stores for times) and end at 6:00 p.m., with doors opening approximately one hour prior to allow for booth set up. The events will be set up as “stations” located throughout the Cabelas store. A map of these “stations” will be handed out to attendees as they enter the store and they will be instructed to proceed to each “station”. After completing each station, each attendee will have his/her map “signed off” by a staff member and completed maps will be turned in and exchanged for the complimentary package consisting of patches, decals, magazines and other goodies.

As a special bonus this year,YES Outdoors will have a drawing at each event for a FREE Crossman Air Rifle Kit. The kit will include a Model 760 variable pump BB/pellet repeater, 100 paper targets, 1250 wadcutter pellets and 3 pairs of shooting glasses.

YES Outdoors/ Cabelas patches & Outsmart in the Outback First Aid Survival & Outback Skills Booklets will be provided to the first 1,000 attendees at each Cabelas store site.

These events will provide tremendous exposure for each organization and the seminar presenters.  Please come prepared to distribute brochures, fliers, etc. about your organization and the opportunities that you offer youth.
