Education Workshop: Iowa
This AWLS program is headquartered at the Springbrook Conservation Education Center, located an hour northwest of Des Moines, in Springbrook State Park. The diverse habitats and activities available at the facility make it an ideal location for the program. The agenda is designed for educators of all types to experience the outdoors and take these experiences back to their students.

The five-day program changes each year, but includes orienteering, shooting of all types, wildlife calling, turtle trapping, fishing (lake, stream and pond), canoeing, camping, fish shocking, bird banding, rock climbing, fly tying and archery. Participants may also study aquatic life, reptiles and amphibians, biotechnology, stream table use, Global Positioning Systems (GPS) and visits to Rieman Gardens and the Izaac Walton League in Ames.
The cost of the program is $250, which includes lodging, meals, materials, and associated activities. Three graduate credits are available through Drake University for an additional $275.
