Youth Education Seminars (YESOutdoors) is a joint effort by Safari Club International Foundation and Cabela's Kid's Fest 2008 focusing on youth outdoor activities and education. Youth Education Seminars are designed to reach today's youth, ages 5 & up, through a multitude of outdoor activities. These events will be presented at selected Cabela's store locations. These are an exciting way to present and promote outdoor activities for the entire family.
Activities planned at each event include:
- Safari In A Box (a teaching tool containing skulls, pelts, scats & tracks complete with lesson plans - promoted by the SCIF Sables)
- Sensory Safari (mounted large game animals for educational purposes – promoted by SCI Chapters)
- First For Hunters Membership Booth – run by SCI Chapters
- Cabela's in Store Marine and Game Biologist, Outfitting Today's Young Hunter – Cabela's staff
- IHEA promoting Hunter Education
-
LaserShot booth set up for first-time shooters to safely experience gun handling and aiming skills in a realistic, supervised setting.
-
Other activities such as a fishing pond, live animal presentations, wildlife calling demonstrations and contests and much more are in the works....
All are open and free to the public. They are designed to draw from 10,000 to 20,000 people into the Cabela’s stores. Cabela’s is committed to promoting the YES Outdoor programs in each of the store locations local area. The partnership formed with SCI Foundation and Cabela's will provide a great way for parents to safely introduce their children to outdoor activities. The scheduled events begin when the store opens (check local stores for times) and end at 5:00 p.m. The events will take place in a large tent near the front entrance of the store. Complimentary items such as patches, decals, magazines and other goodies will be available.
